Description:
A slow-growing evergreen shrub that has a compact habit. It has dense foliage of small, glossy oval leaves. These plants are suitable for a low formal hedge, for edging borders, paths, lawns and for herb gardens.
Position in full or partial shade and in moist, well-drained soil. When established box will tolerate dry conditions. Do not let young plants dry out. Direct sun can burn leaves.
Height/Spread: 5mx5m after 20-50 years if not pruned. Prune annually to maintain required size.
Aspect: North. South, East, West.
Prune young hedge plants in mid-May to encourage bushy growth.
For mature plants, prune when the new growth has finished or by the end of August. If required the hedge can also be pruned once during the growing season and then again at the end of the season.
